Winter Solstice Yoga with Lynne Fugard

On the darkest of days this class offers a midwinter invitation to pause, turn inwards and rediscover our own sense of vitality in an extended practice encompassing mindfulness meditation, joyful mantra, warming vinyasa and replenishing yin yoga. Honour the year behind us, celebrate this experience of being alive, and let that fuel you as you embrace whatever comes next.

As we land on the shortest, darkest day of the year, we gather together to pause and reflect on the year just gone, responding to the seasonal cues around us by slowing down, turning inwards and re-connecting to a simple sense of being radiantly present in experience. When there is little outside source of light and energy available to us, we can instead find what we need within ourselves. To that end, this extended class spirals through a joyful vinyasa sequence, fuelled by breath, mindful intention and mantra, to awaken and galvanise a sense of our own vitality, celebrate our strength and recharge our reserves. Having awoken your inner energy, little by little we will surrender into soothing yin releases and quiet meditation, where you can bathe in that sense of life shimmering through your whole being, replenishing yourself there so that you have something extra to take with you back into life, the festive season and new year ahead.
